DepEd Schools Dominate the 19th Philippine Robotics Olympiad / 1st Virtual Robotics Challenge

The 19th Philippine Robotics Olympiad continue to offer students the opportunity to showcase their robotics skills through an online  virtual event. Over 286 participants from all over the Philippines joined using Virtual Robotics toolkit and World Robot Olympiad SMART Cities virtual Playing fields for Elementary, Junior High School and Senior High School Category. In addition, OPEN category projects where presented by students to the Judges on line . The SUMO BOT category was introduced for the first time in 19th PRO. The event was held from October 19-23, 2020.
Dr. Ruby Cristobal , Chief Science Research Specialist , Science Education Institute (SEI-DOST)  and Mr. Vergel Rebuta , Science Research Specialist 2, Science Education Institute (SEI-DOST) were among the JUDGES of the 19th Philippine Robotics Olympiad. Eng. Carlos Oppus , Director, ATENEO Innovation Center was the Head Judge.
“FELTA Multi-Media Inc. would like to involve as many students, coaches, parents and school administrators to create awareness on how Virtual Robotics technology can be an engaging competition and event even during COVID times.”, according to Mylene Abiva, National Organizer , Philippine Robotics Olympiad and FLL Philippines – President, FELTA Multi-Media Inc.

A Virtual Awarding Ceremony was held last October 23, 2020 for the students to receive their Virtual Certificates . Then, an In person Awarding Ceremony was held October 24 ,2020 through a Live Broadcast Coverage including an actual Virtual Robotics demonstration by PITOGO High School team . The Awarding Ceremony was in compliance with IATF health and safety protocol . The coaches , parents and school administrators received the medals, certificates , and trophies in behalf of the students.
 The Philippine Robotics National Team is preparing for the Robot Virtual Games  on November 9-11, 2020 and World Robot Games Canada November 12-15, 2020 through Technical practice sessions . Open Category entries videos  have been submitted via You Tube  to World Robot Olympiad Canada. Let’s go for GOLD Philippines!
